There are Two articles under the "How to breed a betta" section of
the page, read these as well. But in general terms, you will need
at least a 2.5 gallon tank or other container with a large surface
area, that you can heat to 85 degrees F. You will need a heater.
The best is a submersible one, of the wattage needed to heat the
tank that you are using. A way to cover the tank. A thermometer
to gauge the temperature of the water in the tank. It is best to
leave the bottom bare in the tank. A sponge filter can be placed
in the tank, but not used til the fry get older. Also you can either
keep the female in a jar, or best of all in a glass chimney that is
used on small candles or lanterns, this will provide you a place to
keep the female til the male has a bubble nest built and also allow
you to let her go without disturbing the nest.
