Most bettas are happy in at least a quart( one liter) of water, This 
     makes Quart canning jars a wonderful home.  But you can house your 
     bettas in any sized container bigger than this as well.  Just
     make sure you can do water changes on it with little trouble. 
     A flat sided container can be used if you plan on taking pictures 
     of your betta.
